Cardinal to receive SPJ awards

The Society of Professional Journalists nominated The Daily Cardinal for three awards for the 1997-98 academic year.

Each year, the SPJ accepts submissions in a variety of categories from student newspapers.

This year, the Cardinal was nominated for "Best All-Around Student Newspaper" in the Midwest region.

Cardinal editor Adam Lasker was nominated for "Feature Photography" and "Sports Photography."

The Cardinal, due to financial constraints, has been unable to enter in recent years. The Cardinal won first or second place awards in the "Best All-Around" category in1987-89 and 1991.

The award recipients will be announced at the awards banquet in Minneapolis, during the weekend of April 16-18.
