Fourth and not too long

In October 2001, the DCAA will celebrate its fourth anniversary. This is no small feat. The idea of an alumni association has been brought up many times, only to dissipate when the students who planned it became alumni.

It has not been easy but it has been well worth it. The many pleasant and gracious notes I have received remind me time and again that this association is necessary and beneficial. The Cardinal always made me want to make the world a better place. Bringing together those who inspired me to do so, and, in doing so, rekindled that feeling for all of us.

I would like to thank many who put in extra effort to make the DCAA thrive: Dick Leonard, Jean Sue Johnson-Libkind, Mark Wegner, Rusty Restuccia, Tom Griffin, Greg Graze and DCAA Board for their guidance and support; Jeff Smoller, Cliff Behnke and the Daily Cardinal board and staff for their cooperation and indulgence; Paul Bonner, Jeff Wendorf and the Wisconsin Alumni Association board and staff for their assistance; Sandy Wilcox, Beth Wells and the UW Foundation; Chris Terry, Karl Baumgartner, Andy Snyder, Mark Hazelbaker, Jim Burgess and the many newsletter contributors for their skilled assistance; and Allison Sansone, my wife and fellow Cardinalista, for reminding me why this was important in the first place.
