April 26 reunion, awards honor New York producer, author, Madison publisher

On April 26, the DCAA will host its fifth annual Daily Cardinal Alumni Reunion and Awards Dinner. Events include an all-day open house at the Daily Cardinal offices and the chance to record your Cardinal memories for the newspaper�s archives.

In the evening, the DCAA hosts its Awards Dinner, held this year in Union South. Drinks and dancing will follow.

This year�s dinner honors the following distinguished Cardinal alumni, with additional winners announced at the dinner:

Daily Cardinal Hall of Fame Award

Rosanne Klass. Drama Critic and feature writer, 1947-1950. Klass is an author and poet who has contributed to The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, including reporting from Afghanistan.

Rocco Landesman. Writer, late 1960s. He is currently the Treasurer of Broadway�s Jujamcyn Theaters. He has been associated with more than 40 Broadway productions in last 20 years, including The Producers.

Avram Butensky. Advertising Salesman, 1953-55. He served as one of the most respected advertising executives in the country as president of the nation's largest media buying service, and is a former CEO of Viacom.

James Burgess. Business Manager, 1958. A newspaperman all his life, he served in many executive functions in newspapers, including publisher of the Wisconsin State Journal.

Robert Taylor Service Award

Cliff Behnke. Editor in Chief, 1965-66. He serves as the second alumnus selected for the Daily Cardinal Board of Directors.

Jeff Smoller. Night Editor, 1965-66. He serves as the first alumnus selected for the Daily Cardinal Board of Directors.

William Wesley Young Award

Stephen Thompson. Arts Writer, 1990-92. He has been the editor of the Onion�s AV Club since 1994 and recently edited the AV Club�s first book, The Tenacity of the Cockroach.
