Alumnus Fred Schepartz gets novel published
Well, it's kind of old news, but I just joined the DCAA, so I guess it's new news. Earlier this year, my novel "Vampire Cabbie" was published by Literary Road, a small press based in Seattle.
The novel tells the story of a 1000-year-old vampire who loses his vast fortune in the stock market crash of 1987 and is forced to get a job. He moves to Madison for a cush job in a lab at the UW, but when he arrives, he finds the job had fallen through. Stranded and desperate, he decides maybe driving cab might be the answer. Our vampire hero ends up getting hired at a worker-owned-and-operated cooperative cab company.
"Vampire Cabbie" may be of interest to Cardinal alumni who find they miss Madison. Or it may be of interest to Cardinal alumni who still live in Madison, but miss the Madison of their youth. The setting is the late 1980s and features many classic landmarks and characters that aren't around anymore.
